the team behind boxblayde

For years, Rob Wright, CEO and Co-Founder of BoxBlayde had been very frustrated on trash day having to deal with an increasing number of cardboard boxes thrown into the garage by his wife….one of the most prolific online shoppers on the planet. He knew there had to be a better, easier and safer way to cut down cardboard boxes.

Recognizing the need for design and manufacturing expertise, he turned to his former business partner, Rick Spitz, and Rick's son John Spitz (also Co-Founders of Boxblayde), who had successfully built a custom drone manufacturing business in New Hampshire. Their collaboration led to the formation of BoxBlayde.

As they worked on various design concepts and prototypes, Rob reconnected with an old friend from his summer camp days in the 80s, Dan Ginsberg, a seasoned Chief Operating Officer with expertise in supply chain optimization. Recognizing Dan's value to BoxBlayde's mission, Rob completed the founding team, uniting their diverse skill sets to create a solution for cutting down cardboard boxes more efficiently and safely.

our timeline

BoxBlayde began as a personal frustration when Rob spent countless Sunday evenings cutting down boxes by hand and realized there had to be a better way. In October 2020, he formed a team to solve the problem, raising capital to bring early prototypes to life.

From 2020 to 2022, the team developed, built, and tested multiple iterations to refine the product. After years of development, BoxBlayde launched publicly on Kickstarter in October 2023, which they released their first deliveries to its early adopters in February 2024. By October 2024, BoxBlayde expanded to Amazon, making the product widely accessible.

In 2025, the company accelerated B2B growth through a national distribution agreement with Grainger, a successful rollout with Walmart distribution centers, and international expansion into Canada and the UK.

In January 2026, BoxBlayde was seen on ABC’s Shark Tank Season 17.
